Hello, my name is Mim and I live in London. An innovation that has recently caught my attention is a design innovation that won a big design award.
It happened in 2019 when two designers created and placed these bright pink seesaws along the US-Mexico border, right along the wall. These seesaws allowed people from America and Mexico to interact with each other by playing on them and seeing each other through the border line.
The designers described it as a humorous way of addressing the border problem, especially during the time when Trump was in power. However, I believe it was also a clever and beautiful solution to tackling the issue and allowing people from both countries to interact.
The seesaws were also bright pink, possibly in honor of a Mexican charity that deals with female murder and homicide. They looked striking against the brown border, standing out with their vibrant color. Overall, it was a really cool and political way of addressing the border problem through design.
